Bio

Hola!  I'm one of two Spanish teachers at Stanhope Elmore High School.  I have been teaching Spanish for 28 years, the last fourteen at Stanhope Elmore High School. I also teach Spanish in the evenings at Troy University in Montgomery.  Prior to coming to Stanhope Elmore High School, I taught at Montgomery Catholic High School and Sidney Lanier High School.  I enjoyed teaching at all these schools however as a resident of Millbrook, Stanhope Elmore High School is home to me. My two children graduated from SEHS.  I love teaching Spanish and hope that my students will learn to appreciate it and find it a useful tool in the future. I teach Spanish II and III and hope to instill in my students an interest in learning to speak Spanish and a desire to learn about the varied cultures of the Spanish speaking world. We not only learn Spanish vocabulary and grammar in classs but we work on various cultural projects as well.  I want the class to prepare students for the next language course and to have a memorable and fun experience in class.  I sponsor a Spanish Club in which students can participate to further enhance their contact with Spanish.  In addition, I sponsor the Spanish National Honor Society which is available to students who have a 90 average or above in Spanish I, II and III.  I enjoy making the study of Spanish come alive for the students and in that light, I always welcome guest speakers in the class who can share their travel experiences or native cultures with us.  Please do not hesitate to contact me if you are interested in speaking to the class.  "¡Viva el español!"
