WHAT ARE THE METAL MUSTANGS?

  • The Metal Mustangs Robotics Team have been competing at the BEST (Boosting Engineering Science and Technology) Robotics Competition for the last six years. We have won state four of the six years and advanced to the national competition each year.  Our team consists of a wide variety of students and everyone interested is welcome to attend. We have a $15.00 membership fee to cover the cost of some of our travel expenses and team T-shirts. Our robots have been created and designed by the students to remove fuel rods from a nuclear power plant, travel through the past to collect artifacts, remove cancer cells from the bloodstream, repair scrambled DNA, replace the batteries in the Hubble telescope,  hang up/take down laundry from a line, built airplanes and built molecules.

THE BEST TEAM

  •  In addition to building robots, the Metal Mustangs Robotics Company is involved in marketing our products. We build a table display for each new robot, design T-shirts, web pages, make power point presentations to accompany our speeches and involve the school and the community. Each year we demonstrate our robot for the Kiwanis Club and at the Millbrook EXPO for local businesses. We show excellent spirit sportsmanship by helping other teams and by inviting them to practice games on our mock playing field. We have a trailer at the back of the school that we call home. This allows us to build our robot using our own tools. We meet every Wednesday and during the six weeks we build our robot, we meet almost daily including weekends.
